CGHero & Godel Accelerate Freelance Game Development
This collaboration highlights how UK-based innovators and delivery partners can work together to power the future of creative production and support a thriving freelance economy.
In a major step forward for collaborative game development, CGHero, the freelance talent platform for the creative industries, has launched a powerful new cloud-based development platform. The project was delivered in partnership with Godel Technologies and funded by Innovate UK as part of The Create Growth Programme set up by the Department for Culture, Media, and Sport (DCMS).
“We set out to solve a major challenge in the games industry. Studios needed a better way to work with freelance talent at scale and across borders,” said Jonathan Lloyd, Founder and CEO at CGHero.
As the UK creative industries target new economic and employment goals, CGHero is supporting the Creative Industries Sector Plan by enabling freelance-first production at scale. With a community of more than 10,000 vetted freelancers and 325 studios, CGHero is opening access to on-demand collaboration across game development, film, and digital content.
The leading innovator in the game development industry partnered with Godel to rapidly scale its development efforts and significantly enhance project efficiency.
A Platform Built for Creative Production at Scale
At the centre of the project is Hero Forge, now live at https://hero.inc. The platform is designed to support fast, seamless collaboration between creative teams and studios. Hero Forge also powers the CGHero platform at https://cghero.com, delivering an end-to-end solution that connects talent discovery with production delivery.
“We needed a partner that could move quickly and adapt to a complex roadmap,” Lloyd added. “Godel’s team structure gave us the flexibility to ramp up resources fast and maintain focus on quality. Together, we were able to deliver a showcase-ready version of the platform in time to launch at Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.”
By leveraging Godel’s expertise, CGHero successfully doubled its capacity to deliver the required features quickly and efficiently. Within just six months, the joint team delivered a market-ready MVP, enabling early partner engagement and platform rollout.
“Godel’s Manchester-based managed-service approach and close-knit team enabled seamless onboarding, relationship-building and collaboration. Combined with support from Innovate UK and the DCMS Create Growth Programme, we had the right foundation to bring our vision to life.” Said Jonathan.
“This has been an exciting partnership with a fast-moving Manchester-based business. Our collaboration has focused on expanding the platform with features that support a growing global user base. The result is a better experience for both clients and creators.” Gareth Ainsworth, CEO at Godel.
