Godel helps Intelliflo go global via APIs

“We’re confident that Godel is key to our expansion beyond the UK and will continue to support core product build as the business grows to international markets. I’ve seen a lot of cool stuff coming from the teams – they’re actively working on R&D for Intelliflo as well as owning product development across Intelligent Office, PFP and Developer Platforms.” – Akeel Ahmed, CTO, Intelliflo.

Intelliflo is an industry-leading financial services software company based in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey. It provides best-in-class software to over a third of the UK’s financial adviser (FA) market.

Intelliflo needed to do something radical that would allow the business to grow, satisfy industry demands, support its customers with compliant solutions and to ultimately increase software delivery capacity to make room for innovation.  The solution was to seek a software delivery partner that would help build out to a microservices architecture, enable continuous delivery and a new delivery discipline.

In 2014, Intelliflo began working with Godel to re-architect the core Intelligent Office solution into microservices, deploying them to an on-premise virtualised estate. This allowed the business to direct resources towards areas of the application that would support the business and its users. As the Godel team gained knowledge of Intelligent Office, they began to take on product ownership, building features in the new architecture.

As part of Intelliflo’s transition to microservices and an open architecture, the team has worked on an ancillary product based on public APIs. These APIs make it easier for third-party application providers as well as FAs to integrate their applications into Intelligent Office. The mission was to open up Intelligent Office, allowing third parties the freedom to innovate and build what they need.
