Leading Online Retailer AO.com chooses Godel

The UK’s largest online electricals retailer AO.com has kick started its summer by recruiting a dedicated software development team from Godel.  The partnership sees the Belarus-based Godel team working alongside the retailer’s own software development teams in Bolton, UK.

Established after a £1 bet in 2000, AO.com now delivers around 20,000 appliances, nationally each week, with customers able to order products from the brand’s award-winning website for next day delivery, seven days a week. The firm which has successfully launched in Germany has a host of awards in its trophy cabinet from 2015, including;
Retail Week’s Best Employer and Verdict’s Retailer of the Year.

Matthew Parrish, Director of Strategic Delivery at AO.com explains the reasons for choosing Godel’s nearshoring model; “We have been speaking to Godel for some time, however it’s been a case of waiting for the right opportunity and projects to commence the partnership. At AO.com we strive to ensure customer satisfaction at all touchpoints and it’s clear that Godel share the same passion and commitment.

“Initially the Godel team visited our Head Office in Bolton to garner an understanding of how we work in order to recommend the best way to proceed. Following this our new team members from Minsk joined us in the UK to learn more about the company and our systems and processes. We felt this was an important stage of the engagement, as it gave the two teams face-to-face time, where they were able to properly introduce themselves and build a good working relationship. Things are progressing well and we are looking forward to continuing to work with Godel.”

Working closely with this engagement, Neil Turvin CEO of Godel explains, “Businesses, particularly fast growing online businesses, face numerous challenges in sourcing the best software development talent – statistics within the UK IT market suggest that there is a huge shortage of available software developers and that the best of those available are highly sought after.  AO.com has a knack of identifying exceptional candidates to develop its technology platforms.  It says a lot about Godel’s capability that we have the respect of the teams we have engaged with at AO.com.”

Godel, an award winning nearshorer headquartered in Manchester provides clients in the UK with extended software development teams and extended quality assurance teams.  These are all fronted by Business Analysts, Scrum Masters or Project Managers from its software development centres of excellence in Minsk and Brest, Belarus.
