“Our collaboration with Godel is the ideal strategic partnership; it supports our growth by allowing us to get new developments to market faster whilst increasing our software quality.”
Godel has been selected by the UK’s fastest growing independent energy company, First Utility, to be its automated testing partner. The partnership will see Godel’s nearshore Quality Assurance Team working on their mission-critical billing process system.
First Utility launched in 2008 to take on the “big six” energy companies in the UK, and now successfully supplies gas and electricity services to in excess of 450,000 customers, with thousands more switching to them each month.
Keith Sterling, Head of Software Development at First Utility, said: “When I spoke to peers in the industry I was directed to Godel, who came highly recommended. To work with an external party you need to be able to trust them, and as we have selected Godel to work on our mission-critical payment system, this is particularly important in our situation.”
Automated quality assurance is used to control the execution of critical but repetitive tests. Once the automated tests have been developed, these can be run quickly and efficiently to save money, time and resource, allowing for more frequent releases of software additions and enhancements.
“At First Utility we are continually looking at ways in which we can put our customers first and ways in which we can cut costs to keep more money in their pockets,” Keith continues.
“Our collaboration with Godel is the ideal strategic partnership; it supports our growth by allowing us to get new developments and products to market faster whilst increasing our software quality.
James Blake, Director at Godel said: “We are really looking forward to working with First Utility. They have a strong customer focus and a driven ambition to transform the energy market.
“More and more companies are now looking to Godel to make the change from manual to automated testing, not only as a cost saving exercise but more importantly to eliminate the potential for human error from the quality assurance process. For clients like First Utility, the move to automated testing will also allow them to bring new products and updates to market faster, ensuring they remain competitive and continue to deliver results for their customers”
Recent client wins for Godel include Laterooms.com, Boden, Mitie Group, Grafton Group and NJW Limited.
As of 25th March 2019 First Utility was acquired by the New Energies division of Shell.
