The Manchester Duck Race returned to Spinningfields on Good Friday for a second year. The Duck Race was in aid of local children’s charity Brainwave. After winning last year’s race the Godel team were not able to re-enter last year’s winning duck, however, were excited to enter the next promising duck from the stable, “Darth Duck” into this year’s race.

Thousands of rubber ducks were hurled into the River Irwell, with Coronation street actors Ryan Thomas and Chris Fountain starting the race off.

The result? Darth Duck carried out a clean sweep of the awards on offer by winning both the duck race and the ‘Designer Duck’ competition, chosen by a panel of judges.

Terry Bland, Managing Director of Godel commented:
“I am delighted that Darth duck won this year’s race, and as Godel have won the race two years running, we are very much committed to going for the hat-trick in 2012. We are Godel, we do software development, (and duck racing) properly.”

Please note that all ducks were plastic and were not harmed during the race.
