At the start of 2021, Godel was proud to announce its first Bulgarian location in Sofia. Over the course of the year, both the team and the Godel brand there have grown, putting the location in a strong position to scale.

May 2022 saw the Godel Sofia office officially open its doors to provide further growth opportunities to the thriving Bulgarian location.

“During our first year in Sofia, my main focus was to ensure the Godel culture was established as we began recruiting for our Sofia team. Despite initially not opening an office due to the pandemic, we have succeeded in growing our team remotely and cementing a positive team culture with regular team building activities and I look forward to creating that atmosphere in our new office.” – Konstantin Chorbadziyski, Head of Operations in Bulgaria

To celebrate the new office, the business held a press conference in Sofia where Neil McMurdo, CEO, and Andrew Afanasenko, COO spoke to Economy.bg about why Godel chose Sofia, the journey so far, and what plans they have in store to make the location develop in the future.

Andrew Afansenko, Chief Operating Officer at Godel said: “We had always planned to expand to different locations in Europe and after careful consideration of many destinations, we found that Sofia offers a good level of development of the IT industry, and home to a number of IT companies and technical universities. By opening our first development centre in Sofia, we are now in a strong position to scale. In the next phase of our expansion, we look to reach over 200 people in Bulgaria in the next 2-3 years.”

As we open our first office in Bulgaria, I am proud of what we have achieved over the past year, and we are thankful for the support from Economy.bg and the IT community in Sofia. We now look to increase our skilled team here which will complement our huge growth plans across Europe and the UK. – Neil McMurdo, Chief Executive Officer at Godel.
