One year ago, Godel was proud to announce its first Bulgarian location in Sofia. Over the course of the year, both the team and the Godel brand there has grown, putting the location in a strong position to scale further in 2022. To mark this exciting milestone, the team came together, joined by Godel’s COO, Andrew Afanasenko to celebrate Sofia’s one year anniversary.

Konstantin Chorbadziyski, Head of Operations in Bulgaria, who joined Godel at the start of 2021 has been busy growing his team with skilled people to support the increasing project requirements, as he explains below:

“I am so proud to be ending our first year in Sofia with 15 people in the team! As we have grown, my main focus has been to ensure the Godel culture has been established amongst the team. This has been significantly important as we have been working remotely from home.

As a result of the ongoing COVID situation, the recruitment market has erupted in Bulgaria. People can now work from anywhere, (even the moon if that was possible!). I think working remotely gives a personal freedom and Godel gives the opportunity to adopt the ideal work/life balance.

Sofia was recently recognised in the top 25 Tech Cities of the Future 2021, ultimately showing that our location is a reputable destination for technology companies, also highlighting why companies should invest in Bulgaria.

Last year, I was proud to be acknowledged in the Top 100 HR Professionals in the Bulgarian IT industry which recognises the efforts and achievements of HR specialists. The nomination was not only important to me but also to Godel and our Sofia location as it recognises good professionals within the company. I was also pleased to launch my bi-weekly online Clubhouse meetups, where I am joined by IT experts in Bulgaria. I am looking forward to continuing this in 2022 and finding interesting new topics to talk about.

My focus for this year is finalising the plans to find a physical office for Godel Sofia and continue to grow the team. This will allow us to establish an even greater connection with regular team building, pizza and movie nights, and meals out with the whole team, with plans to also arrange our first Godel charity event.

In Sofia, we currently have specialists in .NET, JavaScript, DevOps, ADC and QM, so the main goal for 2022 is to find skilled people in Python and Java. In December, I would love to say the location has grown to 40-50 people, a target that I believe will enable the location to continue to scale.”
