Manchester’s elite coders test their agile football skills in Godel’s Kanban Cup

Nearshore software development company Godel, based in Manchester’s NEO Building is holding an inaugural 5-a-side knock-out football tournament for Manchester’s coding community to showcase the agile skills of coders both on and off the pitch.

The Kanban Cup, named after an agile software development methodology, will take place on May 23, 2018 at Powerleague Ardwick at 6pm and will include over a dozen teams of coders from some of the region’s finest tech-driven companies.

“It’s footballing silly season with the FA Cup, the Champions League final and then the World Cup in quick succession – we wanted our own cup that got software developers away from their desks and put their agile skills to use on the pitch instead,” said Paul Green, chief commercial officer, Godel.

Companies fielding a 5-a-side team of software developers include:

AO.com;
Sorted Group;
N Brown Group;
LDF Group;
Quint;
Zuto;
Autocab;
AJ Bell;
Fishawack;
MDS Global;
Wax Digital.

“There’s always a lot of talk about the skills gap in coding and Godel helps large UK brands fill that gap with nearshore agile development teams, but on this occasion there will be no shortage of football skills,” concludes Paul Green.

“We wish everyone luck in winning the most coveted football cup in the North West this side of the Etihad, Old Trafford and Anfield.”
