e-FIRe Project

Overview

Connect IT Solutions (CITS) are IT advisors that provide technical and commercial advice, consultancy and training to SMEs and public bodies across the UK.

CITS are working with the National Association of Data Protection Officers (NADPO) to drive forward an initiative to help customers collaborate efficiently and ensure their data is secure.

Problem

In order to address recent changes regarding Data Protection & the Freedom of Information regulations, CITS have initiated the development of a system to both control and maintain the flow of public enquiries and connect public bodies with lawyers and solicitors as required. This project was called “Electronic Freedom of Information Requests (eFIRe)”. The main challenge was an extremely aggressive timeline as CITS wanted to present a working prototype of the system at the annual National Association of Data Protection Officers (NADPO) conference.

Solution

CITS chose Godeltech because of our creativity approach and vision for their proposed system.
Godeltech split the project into 3 phases, so that we could deliver technical and business value very early, which would enable CITS to demonstrate a working system to their customers at the pending NADPO conference. 4 weeks of intensive work resulted in the development of a working prototype of the system, which was successfully presented to potential customers at the NADPO conference. The launch generated enough interested to take the system through two further phases of development and the project is now live.

Upon the completion of the first phase, CITS and Godeltech specified the requirements and scope for the next phases and the Godeltech project team delivered these phases on time and within budget. The system includes collaboration and request tracking modules, financial and invoicing modules as well as management reporting and e-mailing facilities. This system can be used by over 100,000 public entities throughout the UK.
