Overview
Chimatica Limited is a leading drug design and discovery company, providing computational analysis, design and testing services to global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. By utilising the most innovative tools and technologies, Chimatica deliver drug candidates with the best probability of success in human trials.
Problem
Chimatica initiated an aggressive project to build a solid information infrastructure to make use of the most advanced supercomputers worldwide to streamline computational analysis and the drug design process. However, as drug design is Chimatica’s core business competency, the problem was that they were unable to find a team of IT professionals with the required combination of scientific and technology expertise to bring their vision to reality.
Solution
Godeltech completed a number of innovative technology projects in Europe and North America and gained strong experience in science and technology environments. Many of the Godeltech team have completed post-graduate studies in computer science and mathematical modelling. This experience and the educational background of Godeltech staff was a major factor in the selection of Gödel Technologies as the software development partner for this project.
Godeltech assembled a first class team including a Project Manager, Systems Architect and Software Engineers to develop a working prototype/proof of concept of the information system; which has been successfully delivered and validated by national e-science program authorities and clients. Upon the delivery of the prototype, partners teamed up to put together the requirements for the next phase of the project development, which will include the creation of a live system working seamlessly with supercomputers distributed across the globe.
The solution extends the capabilities of the Taverna workbench that forms part of the myGrid project. myGrid is a UK e-Science project funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) involving five UK universities; including Manchester and Liverpool Universities, the European Bioinformatics Institute and many industrial collaborators.
